On February 27, 2003, fifty students from the Peak Enrichment
Program, Helena, MT came to Montana State University to learn
about microbiology. |

Phil Stewart, Deputy Director of the Center for Biofilm
Engineering, gave an introduction on biofilms. |

In the Department of Microbiology labs, students learn about
the fermentation and respiration of yeast and sugars.

Balloon circumference was measured to see how much carbon
dioxide was being produced by the fermentation process. |

Using eye droppers, samples of hay infusion were taken for wet
mount slides. |
