PEAK Enrichment Program Tour
|
On February 23, 2007, students from the PEAK* Program,
Helena, MT came to Montana State University to participate in the CBE's
Biofilm Extravaganza Workshop. Students were given a variety of problems to investigate
required hands-on activities and also gave them a chance to ask
lots of questions.

"Bon appétit!" was an experiment designed to
investigate Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast) metabolism
using the scientific method. |

Students peered through the stereoscope to see all
the goo that kitchen sponges trap and grow.
Liz Sandvik helped students find their optimum views.

The "Biofilms Scavenger Hunt" included a tour
through some of the CBE labs to learn about the equipment, what
kind of experiments are being done, and to identify various items
that can be found in laboratories, i.e. autoclaves, centrifuges,
and reactors.
Tour guides are CBE graduate students Melinda Clark and Willy
Davison.

CBE graduate students, Peter Hahn and Laura Jennings, initiate
table discussion to see if they can help the students find a
solution. |
