Images from
the MSU-CBE art and science project “Bioglyphs” were published
in a book, “Exploring the World Ocean,” by Sean Chamberlin and
Tommy Dickey.
Book
Description
Exploring the World Ocean presents oceanography as a systems
science, aimed at understanding the world ocean as a single,
interdependent system of interacting geological, physical,
chemical and biological processes. The text also emphasizes the
idea that ocean science is an ongoing process, dependent upon
cutting-edge technology and research. Students are encouraged to
take an active role in learning by exploring scientific ideas,
data, and alternative ways of thinking as they view ocean
science through the eyes of oceanographers.

About bioglyphs
Bioglyphs began as an art and science project in 2002, and
we've been enchanted with their enlightening qualities ever
since. In fact, these bioluminescent organisms are such a
dynamic teaching and research tool that we enjoy finding
opportunities to dazzle students and visitors with them.
