CBE News Update
July, 2006
Volume 9, Issue 7
Technical Advisory Conference
June 20–22, 2006
|
|
|
"It was the best meeting ever!" was the
enthusiastic endorsement of one industrial member. The CBE makes
every effort to provide industrially relevant conferences with
topics of interest to our members. Invited CBE researchers and outside
experts present their work and all contribute to the wealth of
information presented. Sessions take place in an enjoyable scientific
atmosphere of learning and discovery.
This summer's meeting attracted 71
attendees total. Of these, 58 attendees were from 34 businesses,
8 from colleges/universities, and 5 from government agencies/entities. Thirteen Industrial Associate companies
and nineteen visiting companies were represented.

| WORKSHOPS
Every conference begins with a one-day workshop. This
workshop was divided into Basic and Advanced simultaneous
sessions to accommodate industry needs.
Workshops are crafted each time to present new methods and
techniques developed at the Center. Some members have
attended the workshops multiple times because there is always
something new to learn and it's a great refresher course, too.

PRESENTATIONS
The CBE works hard to make every moment of the conference
worthwhile and enjoyable, too. We want it to be a retreat
where you can "take your title off" and enjoy learning from
students and scientists across the board.
Open exchanges of questions and discussion are encouraged.

TAC BUSINESS MEETING
The Industrial Associate members business meeting took place
in a beautiful informal, outdoor pavilion nestled against the
Bridger mountain range. Several topics with applied themes were
proposed for the next TAC, so stay tuned!
The new chair persons of the 2007 meetings will be Chair Ruth Cutright, W.L. Gore and
Vice Chair Bill Schwingel, Masco, Inc. We thank Mel
Czechowski, Church & Dwight for his Chair term.

 |
INFORMAL BBQ DINNER
Everyone was welcomed to the tasty BBQ dinner that followed
the business meeting, and it was a pleasant atmosphere to meet
new attendees and relax in the Montana sunshine and beautiful
surroundings.

2006 ANNUAL REPORT
The CBE disseminates an annual report at the summer TAC. This
year's theme is "CBE Faces and Biofilm Surfaces." Superb and
spectacular are a couple descriptive responses we've received
from readers.
It was hot off the press at this conference and as you can
see even CBEr's couldn't wait to read the final version.
