Technical Advisory Conference

TAC attendees are given the opportunity to attend
a Biofilm Methods workshop, the day prior to the conference
presentations.
Linda Loetterle, workshop coordinator, addresses a group of
industrial participants in the Education Laboratory.

Presentations held the attention of over 42
attendees in Thursday's session. Sessions topics were:
1) Biofilm control; 2) Biofilm methods;
3)
Biological fuel cells; 4) Water treatment; 5) Cell-cell signaling; and
6) Environmental biofilms.

Peter Gilbert, keynote speaker, presented "Resistence, persistence and consistence
in biofilm communities." And we will never forget what Pooh Prints
are!

Federal and state agencies are often invited
speakers at these conferences. Melba Morrow (pictured right)
gave a presentation titled "Biofilms: Regulatory challenges".

In the Water Treatment
session, NASA's Monsi Roman presented "Biofilm challenges in the
international space station."

Face to face contact with conference attendees is highly valued
by the CBE. These conferences are an opportunity for CBE students (as well as
staff and faculty) to learn how their knowledge can be applied to the
industrial and clinical settings.
