Bozeman -- Rocky Ross, a computer science
professor at Montana State University, received the 2004 SIGACT
Distinguished Service Prize from the Special Interest Group on
Algorithms and Computation Theory, which is part of the
Association for Computing Machinery, an international society for
computing professionals.
The award recognizes service to the
theoretical computer science community and Ross' news column,
Education Forum in SIGACT News. In designating the award, the
professional society noted that Ross' contributions to
the forum have been "impeccably prepared
and infused with wit, insight, wonder and the texture of his own unique character. His ever-colorful by-line
from the wilderness of Montana has become a well-loved hallmark of SIGACT News."
