Movie Description:

A 3D cellular automata model of biofilm dynamics

alt="Your browser understands the <APPLET> tag but isn't running the applet, for some reason." Your browser is completely ignoring the <APPLET> tag!
This is a computer model simulation of the response of a microbial biofilm to antimicrobial treatment. Live cells are shown in green and dead cells in red. An antimicrobial treatment is applied at 100 h in a dose of 12 h duration. The biofilm recovers quickly after the end of the antimicrobial treatment. As the biofilm ages, detachment events occur.
