Workshops.

 |
| Workshops focus
on theoretical and practical aspects of growing and quantifying biofilms. Laboratory
techniques are demonstrated and explained by CBE researchers, then repeated by
participants in a hands-on session. |
 |
 |
| Workshops also cover the study of biofilms via
respirometry, cryosectioning, microscopy, and other innovative techniques. |
Biofilm methods workshops
provide information on growth, sampling, and analysis of biofilms in interactive sessions
which can be tailored to specific attendee needs. |
|
|
The CBE Workshop Program was started as a training
seminar for in-house staff and students in the specific techniques of biofilm growth,
sampling, and analysis. The demand for this knowledge is not limited to CBE researchers,
however, and we have since expanded our workshop series to provide instruction in hands-on
laboratory techniques to both industrial researchers and other academic workers.
Workshops Offered
-
Student/Staff Training Workshop fundamentals of biofilm
analysis, quantification methods and biosafety courses are taught to CBE graduate
students, undergraduate interns, and non-CBE MSU students on an as-needed basis.
-
TAC Workshop – basic and advanced biofilm
methods as well as selected topics of special interest (anaerobic
technique, special equipment instruction, etc.) are presented as part of
Technical Advisory Conference (TAC). These workshops are offered free of
charge to Industrial Associates and on a fee basis for non-members.
Workshops can also be presented at the location of a sponsor's choosing,
provided the necessary laboratory setting is available.
